Local schemes promote Mid Ulster Mental Wellbeing

Beacon and Mindwise schemes in the Mid Ulster area came together on Wed 12th October 2011 to celebrate World Mental Health Week. 

Beacon’s Woodlands & Market Street Day Support Services  and Newhaven Supported Housing Service along with Mindwise’s Training and Employment Service at New Style Furniture and Community Support Service organised an Open event at The Glenavon House Hotel in Cookstown. 

Both Beacon and Mindwise provided information on their services along with displays of crafts, arts, and woodwork. The Young Peoples group in Woodlands had specifically designed a display about their journey  of  recovery, acceptance and dealing with Stigma. Beacon and Mindwise where also joined by local organisations Tipsa, Niamh Louise and the local Volunteer Bureau all highlighting the importance of mental wellbeing and the support which is available locally. 

The event was a great success and in the region of 120-130 people attended the event which was also supported by the members of the local Council.
